Bell OH58

The U.S. Army adopted the Bell OH58 Kiowa helicopter during the Vietnam War. It was used for reconnaissance or as an attack helicopter. Weapons that could be added included 7.62 miniguns, antitank missiles, and rockets. It had a maximum cruising speed of 120 knots.

This is a military version of the Bell Jet Ranger, one of the most successful civil helicopters in the world.  This is one of our handson exhibits. Visitors are encouraged to sit in the helicopter and gently use the controls.

This aircraft, formerly used by the Kentucky National Guard.
