Santa Fly-in

POPULAR NORTH POLE RESIDENT TO TOUCH
DOWN AT AVIATION MUSEUM IN LEXINGTON

While his usual mode of transport has skids like a “Huey” and reindeer propulsion, Santa Claus is moving up to a turbine helicopter. On Saturday, December 1, he will be touching down at 1:00 pm adjacent to the Aviation Museum of Kentucky for a pre-Christmas visit to Lexington.

Thanks to the Lexington Police Air Support Unit, the US Marine Corps Reserve and the Aviation Museum, Santa Claus will be landing on the ramp just outside the museum at Blue Grass Airport. Museum guests can visit with Santa and enjoy holiday refreshments. Museum admission will be free for each visitor who brings a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots. The option to pay regular admission or purchase a toy for admission from the museum gift shop is available as well. Through the US Marine Corps Reserve, the museum is an official collection site for the 2018 Toys for Tots campaign.

“The museum is happy to provide a landing site for Santa,” said Jim McCormick, board chair of the museum. “We invite all of Lexington to bring a new toy, help Toys for Tots, and enjoy 'a seasoned pilot' who really knows about flying and navigation.”

The Aviation Museum of Kentucky is located at 4029 Airport Road, adjacent to Blue Grass Airport in Lexington. It is the official aviation museum of the Commonwealth as well as home to the Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame, and operates as a non-profit corporation.
